SDFringe 2014

Building on the momentum of its debut, the 2014 San Diego International Fringe Festival proved that the “Fringe” was not just a one-hit wonder, but a permanent fixture in the city’s cultural landscape. Expanding across 11 days, the sophomore year saw a massive influx of international talent and the tightening of the “Bi-National” bridge between San Diego and Tijuana.

Centered primarily in the downtown East Village, the festival grew to include more unconventional spaces, emphasizing the Fringe philosophy that art can—and should—happen anywhere. From evocative solo dramas to high-energy dance and site-specific spectacles, 2014 solidified the festival’s reputation for high-risk, high-reward performance.
