Winner of the 2017 Family Fringe / Youth Poster Art Competition Revealed
And the winner of the 2017 Family Fringe / Youth Poster Art Competition is: Kayla Swift.
As the San Diego International Fringe Festival focuses on providing a platform for artists to present new cutting edge works (primarily in theatres) throughout San Diego & Tijuana; it also has been working on providing more and more free programming and engaging family audiences. In turn, Producer Christa Kay thought it would be a great idea to take the initiative to provide opportunities for young artists. In fact, after attending the World Fringe Congress in Montreal, and seeing what other festivals (such as Edingburgh & Brighton) have done to showcase young artists, she opted to jump in and create a new opportunity for young ‘San Diego’ visual artists. Hence; the 1st Annual “Youth Poster Art Contest.”
So, here it is…., drum-roll…., the WINNER Kayla Swift (14 y/o student from Scripps Ranch High School) will be seeing her art plastered around the festivities of Family Fringe taking place at the City Heights Performance Annex (in San Diego) on June 25th, 2017. She will also be receiving a $100 scholarship with her award.
CONGRATULATIONS Kayla!
